The 21st Salos Summer School and Conference, also known as Academia Grammaticorum Salensis, was held in Antalieptė, Lithuania, from 21 to 27 July 2024. For Salos, this year was a turn in a new direction. For 20 years, Salos has been a major gathering point for linguists in Lithuania and the Baltics, playing an important role in keeping the linguists of the region up-to-date with modern theories and methodologies. With the support of the Van Riemsdijk Foundation, Salos broadened its reach this year by inviting a more global audience. In addition, this time, the summer school was targeted primarily at early-career researchers, including, but not limited to PhDs, postdocs and advanced Masters. The event maintained its focus on foundational courses, offering three in total: linguistic fieldwork, data annotation, and quantitative analysis. These courses spanned four days of the summer school, each followed by a daily tutoring session. As is tradition at Salos, a conference day was also held, featuring 7 oral presentations and 5 posters. The feedback from participants was encouragingly positive, and we, the organizers, have decided to continue in this new direction for future events.
