The Workshop on Verbal Domains took place at Newcastle University on 26-27 June 2023 in a hybrid format. It brought together researchers from across the world interested in the behaviour of verbs, aspectual markers and auxiliary verbs in a diverse range of languages including American Sign Language, Baritle Neo-Aramaic, English, German, Hindi-Urdu, Japanese, Sinhala, Teochew, as well as languages from the Austronesian, Bantu and Western Nilotic language families. The key question addressed was whether all these languages have a verbal domain of a comparable size which is relevant to the syntactic, morphological, phonological and semantic interfaces.
